National Trailer Dealers Association 21st Annual Convention Dates and Location Announced
Based on member and attendee feedback, the National Trailer Dealers Association (NTDA) will hold its 21st Annual Convention Wednesday, Oct.5-Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL. Hotel reservations may be made beginning Dec. 1, 2010 for next year's Convention. A special group rate of $190 for a Superior King room has been arranged for the 2011 Convention. Program registration will open April 1, 2011. Look for additional details coming soon! NTDA President Dave Boyd, New Board Installed Dave Boyd, president of Aero Industries (Indianapolis, IN), was installed as the 2010-2011 NTDA President during the NTDA's Annual Awards Dinner on Oct. 15, 2010. As Boyd's first act of business, he recognized Immediate Past President Holly Hale for her service and dedication to the Board. Hale is president of Country Supply, Inc. (Manteno, IL).
The following newly elected Dealer Directors were also installed: Jennifer Blount, president of Carpet Trailer Sales, Inc. (Dalton, GA); Nick Lambevski, president of Transport Trailer Sales, Inc. (Milton, ON, Canada); Bill Weiss, President/CEO, TNT Sales (Villa Ridge, MO); and Joel Hought, Trailer Sales Manager, Wallwork Truck & Trailer Center (Fargo, ND). NTDA Forming Hospitality Task Force to Assist with Convention Social Functions
The NTDA is seeking volunteers to serve on a Hospitality Task Force that will assist in planning of optional tours and activities during the NTDA's 21st Annual Convention, Oct. 5-7, 2011, at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL. The Task Force will also assist with other hospitality functions at the event, including greeting members, manning the on-site registration area, planning spouse programs and other activities. Scholarship Recepient Announced
Kaci Torgerson has been named the recipient of NTDA's $7,000 Scholarship Award for 2010. The annual scholarship is underwritten by Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and Meritor Wabco. Torgerson is studying education Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
James Lesmeister Remembered
Jim Lesmeister, father of Ken Lesmeister, passed away Oct. 26. Services were held Oct. 30 at Assumption Catholic Church. Ken is president of Prairie Trailer (Morris, MN). NTDA Forming 2011 Shop Productivity Guide Task Force
The NTDA is seeking members to serve on a Task Force to expand and improve its Shop Productivity Guide. The Guide, which was first published in 2006 by the NTDA, is a time study based on NTDA Dealer Members' trailer repair and installation experiences. The purpose of the Guide is to aid members in establishing baseline installation and repair times for their operations that will ultimately improve shop productivity and profitability. The initial guide primarily focused on dry vans, reefers and flatbed repairs and installations. If your parts or service managers are interested in serving on a Task Force that will culminate in a 2011 Survey and Guide, please contact NTDA Executive Director Gwen Brown at (810) 229-5960, or e-mail gwen@ntda.org.
